I am building a 72 351C, there is a round hole in the middle of the intake side of the head, over the exhaust gas port that feeds into the intake. What does this round hole do? Why is it ignored by the intake gasket and aftermarket manifold? What do I need to do about it?
I don't know exactly what the purpose of the hole is but it doesn't do anything. There's no passage from it into the combustion chamber or ports. Maybe it's used during the final milling process' when the heads are at the factory.
Yeah, it's a blind hole that doesn't connect to any internal passages. When the intake manifold is installed, that hole sits above the intake manifold, exposed to the elements. I usually fill it with silicone just to keep it from accumulating any crud. Otherwise, you can just ignore it.
