I have a 78 F150 shortbox 4*4. I am restoring the truck to show quality. It will never be muddin or pulling trailers. I just want it to win trophies and kill chevys. I have questions on my motor though. I have a 351M in it right now and I'm rebuilding it to 400 specs this summer. I was wondering what you guys think of the setup I choose. I also have a 4.11 rear end in it.

pistons Ohio pistons and milling down the heads to bring up the compession. They will be 40 over.
I want to know what you guys think about the carb though. I was thinking of a Holley street avenger but is it worth the money? And should I put a spacer on it? Does it really make a difference? And what size valves should I use?
Well as for the spacer under the carb. part of this question here's what I've learned. On a good flowing intake, for every inch of spacer you can get under the carb. you'll gain 40 Hp.up to 2" and then it's less after that. Why do you think the Tunnel Ram is so good..
