Pedal box bushings, Do it!

Pedal box bushings, Do it!
My 97 Super duty had the typical "clutch release at the floor" problem which was not quite fixed with the replacement of the bushing at the end of the clutch master cylinder rod. I noticed that when holding the brake at a light I could feel the brake pedal moving when I pushed the clutch so I bought the bushing set for the pedal box from Ford but never put them in after looking at how much work it appeared to be to install them. I then saw this link that tells how to get the pedal box out of the truck and with a helper it realy isnt that bad a job

Two things I did differently was
1. I completely removed the universal for more room.
2. It didnt take any swearing to get it out from under the dash
If your truck needs this done you will not belive how nice the clutch works with no slop and some lubriplate gease on the cross shaft. Do it! its not that bad of a job.

I have not done it yet but I have been saying it all along. The play at the shaft bushings is a lot worse than at the MC bushing . I have to push the clutch down about a inch to take up the play in the shaft Bushings. How much were the bushings? Do you think that you can just remove the bolts off the shaft and slide it out to replace the bushings with the box still in the truck?

Been a while since I bought the kit but I'm purdy sure it was less than $20. Don't think they can be replaced from underneath. Removing the box just isnt the job it would appear to be. A decent helper makes the job a pure piece of cake. I forgot to mention above that I removed the seat too. If you suffer from any back problems it makes the job much easier on the ole back. From start to finish including cleaning 10 years of dirt and dust from under the seat and the neighbor stopping by to BS didnt take 2 hrs.
