New wheels and tires sure change a look!

Hauling some steel shelving today and had a minute to shoot a photo.
Sure looks a lot better IMO.
New add-a-leafs, too.

Before:

After : (pretty dirty - had to retrieve the trailer from a muddy field down a muddy road after the thaw )

Looks good. What tires are you running? I like the wrecker, if it needs a new home, I'll take it.

Oh yea, what's a thaw??????

The tires are 265/75 16's on 8" rims. I wanted to keep the same overall diameter but go wider and these were it within a tenth of an inch.

The wrecker was hauled for a friend.
At first I thought todays load was going to be lighter than the wrecker but I thought wrong.

EDIT - Thaw = when the snow melts. Or in other words, when everything is MUDDY!

The tires are General Grabber AT2's range E. I wanted BFG T/A KO's but couldn't justify the price - $40 more per tire. And, surprisingly, the AT2's had a better review than the BFG's (Off Road Magazine).

Weighed in at just a smidge over 14k with a pin weight of 3300 lbs.
Ya, heavier pin weight than what I would have been happy with but performed well.
I could sure use a downpipe and a chip. I was almost able to keep it at 70 in OD with the cruise on but relented to 65mph without OD.
Darn 3.55 gears.
90 mile return trip.

General huh, I'll have to check them out. Looking at the pic I guessed the weight was around there. If you tow like that, then spend the money and get a down pipe and open element filter. Trust me it's worth the money. Then get some gauges.

I don't tow often and a load like this is somewhat rare for me.

I have the open 6637 air filter and a cat delete and I've noticed a towing improvement. When I towed the wrecker OD wasn't an option and I was stuck at 63mph. This job came up quick or I would have had a downpipe on it beforehand. Gauges are in my future, too, if I don't sell the truck first.

Wheels were just under a hundred bucks each with tax. I didn't know this when I bought them but they're known as 058's. (16x8)

$45 for lug nuts.
