Fram oil filter for 1994 F150 6 cyl?

Greetings friends,

Extremely quick question: I just came from buying a Fram oil filter for my 1994 F150 6 cyl. The application book was missing but I seemed to recall I needed a PH8A.

Is that right? 1994 F150 6 cyl Fram oil PH8A?

Thanks much,

Sounds familiar though I can't confirm. The Fram filters are known to cause startup knock BTW.. something to do with crappy backflow valves.

PH8A is correct for Fram but I recommend you return it and swap for a Motorcraft FL-1A. You'll get a better filter and it's probably the same price.

Thanks for the info - much appreciated...

Well, I don't believe I saw Motorcraft at the Wal-of-Mart where I found the Frams, were they there somewhere hiding? I ain't so concerned about the price, just need to keep this awesome truck running.

Am I gonna' find Motorcraft only at parts shops?

Nope, they should be there. Check any supercenters around, i usually get my oil and fliter from wally world. I even saw them at the regular walmarts (non-supercenters).

I can't argue strong enough against the use of fram filters in anything. Wally world sells the filter you need right next to the garbage fram sells.

Also - double check the catalog when you get there. Ford switched from using the FL-1A around 94 or 95, and an FL-1A won't fit after they changed.

my six uses a fl1a and it is a 94.

just looked and my ford service manuals up to 96 list it as fl1a as well.

only the 351 has a different one than fl1a.

If there isn't a wal-mart near by to get a FL-1A you can also use a NAPA 1515.. NAPA has excellent filters as well... a WIX 51515 will also do well. Point being any of those are far better than that crap that Fram sells
