Whats the trick to getting the linkage undone at the column under the hood?? I have my floor shifter in and hooked up but I can't get the linkage undone at the tab on the column for the stock shifter.
I take your talking the piece of the shift rod in the nylon bushing? a good pry bar or a big channel lock pliers is whats worked for me. It's a SOB to get out!
Yea thats what I was talking about, I just didn't know if there was trick to it and I wasn't doing it. I didn't want to mess anything up incase I ever need to put it back.
Ok I got that linkage off but now whats the freakin' trick to get the pin that holds the shifter on to the column? I looked in my haynes but it doesn't say anything about getting the shift lever off?? Thanks for any pointers.
I had to take a punch and drive it out. On another column I was able to use a pair of pliers to get it out. Some penetrating lube may also help get it out.
Ok, Thanks. I'll pick up some punches this weekend. I was using a nail to try to drive it out but I didn't want to hit it too hard if that was wrong! I'm trying not to tear anything up incase I ever have to put it back it.
