Had my truck in for oil leak. Dealer had to take motor out to get to bedplate, they broke a nipple on the radiator and had to replace that as well. Anyway ever since i got my truck back, it has a whining noise that seems to get louder as i give it gas, at idle cant really hear it, at highway speeds cant hear due to road noise. Sounds like it might be coming from turbo area, but not sure. The best i can describe the whine, is that it is somewhat similiar to a power steering pump sound when steering is in full lock. Any ideas.
No codes. And the truck runs fine except for the whine. It also seems weird that this is happening right after i received my truck back from dealer. They had to completely remove the engine, now it whines, doesnt seem like a coincidence. but maybe.
i think i have the same noise your talking about. going to the dealer for other noises as well as this one. going for a ride with a tech. will let you all know what the verdict is.
Jimmy, I had a similiar whining and shudder in some real cold weather a while back and then recently on cold startup and not so cold it came back. Is this HPOP related, can you describe it for me? I still have engine warrenty....
ok got my truck from ford. Meet the diesel tech. awsome guy, very helpful. Said he doesn't think it is my heads b/c no signs of it being HG. Anyway took it in monday morning changed out my turbo updated my comp. tightended some bolts and made sure pedistal was positioned correctly. Picked it up went for a drive with him. No noises at the time. The new noise was gone, (vibration sounding noise at 16-1800 rpm). as for the other whooo whoooo tea kettle noise it wasn't as pronounced. started it up this morning and it was still there. Apparently this noise can be heard more when it is cold and at normal opp temp. it could be heard but not as much. Today driving home the other vibration noise came back. Gonna bring it in when i get some spare time again to figure this prob. out. Anyone have any idea???
I finally got rid of the high pitch whining noise every time I accelerated into the turbo boost zone. It has been there from the day I picked up my new F-250 PSD from the dealer. The diesel tech at the dealership finally suggested I JUST leave my wife at home.
