Hey guys great site here. I got a 05 f350 6.0l turbo and i got code p0299, turbo underboost, and the steering wheel always ocilatted when i hit big bumps so i took it to the dealer, and they fixed the steering dampner with a revised bracket that was a tsb, and after 3 days they figured it needed a turbo, said something about the veins in the turbo being clogged. when it tripped the light it did not seem to kill performance, etc, i have a scan tool so i scanned it and cleared it, it did not come back on but i saw that code usually meant the turbo was bad, so i took it in.
I got it back and it seems good, but when i first bought truck going on highway or over 60, and i abruptly let off gas pedal it would dump extra boost, similer to my last 2000 7.3, however it stopped doing that and does not do it now, is that normal?
no engine lights or anything on, just paranoid.
I wouldn't be paranoid. I have had my 05 for three years and 52k miles and I have yet to ever hear the famous turbo fart. Some trucks just don't make the same sounds as others. Having a new turbo in just probably changed your sounds. Just keep an eye on the boost gauge to make sure you still have no under/over boost.
