Frame mounted nerf bars?

Frame mounted nerf bars?
Have any of you guys had any luck finding or using a set of nerf bars that mount to the frame? I have the factory grey running boards on my 00' F250 SD Scab that mount to the inner rocker panel(?) The problem is that the area around the mount has started to rust and is weak. Lots of flex in the running board now. Short of replacing that section of the body and starting over, I'm kinda at a loss of what to do. Any suggestions or experience you have is greatly appreciated. I'd like to keep some sort of bar but it's a no go as is. Thanks again.

I'm thinking that too. Looking underneath, the frame really looks a long way from the edge of the body to support a step. Just hoping there was a better alternative to bolting onto the sheet metal again.
