Lightbulb Shift kit

soo i finally got my trans go shift kit installed last night and this guy (mike hallas) he builds diesels and trannys and hes tellin me i should go to a 6.0 tq converter.. because the 01-02-03 tq converters shred up and takes out the tranny .... soo im thinking hmmm that cant be a very cheap thing to replace soo does 600$ sound like a good idea to do or no? i also talked to another tranny guy and hes like people do that all the time......and he also told me somthing differnt about those pmr's that they bend due to the timeing is advanced too much i alway thought it was too much power???

Buy a 3,4 or 5 disk(multidisk) converter, thats what eliminates the problem. You won't like the cost of them. My 4 disk ran me $1150. The banks 3 disk runs about $900, the ATS 5 disk runs about $1350, and there are other flavors.

I think I remember that Brian uses the 6.4 converter with his rebuilds.

Thats Jon Woods. BTS uses a Precision Industries Converter

A BTS-Precision Industries Converter is going to cost about $1075 through BTS. Which is what I am seriously thinking about. Then running Schaeffers tranny fluid.

so the 6.0 wouldnt be a good choice, i have also been thinking of running the 6.0

from what john wood told me only difference between 7.3 and 6.0 torque is 200 RPM lower stall speed

I don't think the 6.0 converter is a direct bolt in. I think there is some thing else needed to make it work

Edit maybe its the 6.4 converter. I really don't know.

I believe John Woods builds an adapter plate to use the 6.0 converter with a 4R100.

Don't know the cost or availability, though.
