door locks clicking

ok to start off i have already been through the actuators a few months ago so i know its not them but tonight i was hauling some 12 foot 2x4s with the ends of them resting on the armrest about half way home they started hitting the lock button on every bump i hit now the locks wont work at all no budging or twitching or anything except a clicking noise in the dash. i had checked the fuse and it was alright so i was wandering if that clicking noise would be a relay that would need replaced and also you cant hear the actuators winding up either thanks in advance for any responses

Did you do the trick by pulling the resistor or did you just replace the whole unit when you redid the door locks?

The reason I ask is that if you did the trick and jumped the resistor, and the lumber held down the door lock switch, it might have fried some component of the door lock system by passing too much current through it. That would be my best guess.

Good luck

sounds like it fried the door lock. But my question is are all the door locks not activating or just the one that the lumber rested on? If it is all it is more then the locks itself. If it is just the one then you fried that one most likely.

ok my understanding is that if the relay is clicking then it should be working right and i would have to replace the actuators is that right

If it is all of them then I am guessing you might have fried a component in the relay. The relay could still be getting power but not properly dispursing it so the relay will not work.

Just to make sure you try the simple fixes first...have you tried locking and unlocking each door? This has happened to me twice and it turned out to be the lock/unlock button on the door itself. Someone (in your case maybe the lumber?) would hit the button and get it caught between lock and unlock and it drove the ecm crazy trying to figure out what was going on. I was able to clear the clicking noise and get all of the locks working again by locking and unlocking each door until I found the one with the problem. Good Luck

i just went out to the truck and tried unlocking with the switches on both sides and nothing happened i also tried just pulling on the lock tabs. one other thing i just noticed is the rear driver door is locked shut no matter what i do i am still thinking it would be a relay but that door being stuck shut is kind of weird
