A friend of mine was having problems with his Tac. not working. So I was thinking it was a CPS on its way out. Starts fine, runs fine. I tryed to pull codes with my cool superchip code reader and the only code that came up was 0470 witch is I beleive EBPS circit or something. So I thought I read somewhere about it being a fuse, couldn't find one. Then on the way home he called me and said it just started working. He has an 02 just like mine but a CC with 71K. Could it still be the CPS? He did have it in for the recall that I told him about a few months back. Any ideas whats going on? I told him to keep me posted if it does it again.
Still waiting on the guru's, but is he having any problems with his speedo, or odometer? A faulty speed sensor can cause a no tach, but usually a no speedo also. There's one on top of the rear diff (most common problem) and one on top of the auto tranny. Maybe swap parts with him to see if that's the problem. I think it's only a $30 part if thats it.
I would say either a loose wire or Vehcile Speed Sensor, we need some more info though. I wouldn't think the EBPS would have anything to do with, when mine went out my tac worked fine. His EBPS may also be bad and that's why its throwing a code. EBPS (Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor)
About the EBPS I was thinking just a cleaning before buying a new sensor. All gauges work fine but the tac. He said everything works as is but no tac. But it did start working again before home. I don't know how else to explane it.
