b galaxy i am wondering where you stand about stiffening capacitors, ive read loads of stuff saying how good they are, and unil recently thought there kind of a necesity to big stereo's, but then i started reading that there actually a waste of money in most systems, what do you think?
yea but there everywhere. Not afraid to say it, i used to be one of them. I had saved up alot of money and was going to buy a big effin stereo system. Then i started doin a lil research to make sure i wouldnt get jacked around. HA. Well after just a lil research i decided against the big effin stereo. But i still research all sorts of audio stuff. Yea i want a 5000 watt system now, but i also want a ford gt. Im gunna go ahead and keep wantin!
No doubt, I think it's funny because I have a 14k watt system and the wife has 10K of power in her truck, but both of those are not daily shakers, yeah we can flex when we want to and mostly use them to compete but, daily? no. Even with the serious power and some nice gear, it still takes one hell of an electrical system.
Any kid that pounds full tilt all day doesn't have a truly loud / powerful system. It may be loud to them and they might be the loudest on the block

Well, caps have their place no doubt. But if a system is pulling more power then the electrical system can put out then it's needs to be upgraded. A higher output Alt, maybe an extra battery depending on what king of amperage it's pulling and for how long.
Dang! lots of amps. I notice that my lights dim a little when my stereo is on. Its not a lot. Alt upgrade is what im thinking, but how much of an amp out put should i get?

Is it all the time or just when your really pounding hard?
If it just hear and there when you crank it up on your fav song then I would suggest upgrading the wiring at the alt. The big 3 as it's called.
You could also add a second battery to help take the quick bursts of power draw.
ALTs can be spendy for some serious hi-output ones a 200 amp one would be good, but you could go up to almost 400amps each
Its not ALL the time, but most of the time and gets significantly worse if i pound it hard. If my off road lights are on, its pretty bad.
Yes i know of the big three, i would deff do that if i upgrade alts, but would the big 3 alone be enough.
If at least do that.
The factory wiring is **** poor at best, And add to it the grounding
Off road lights can be just as tough as sound on the charging system. A little rewire is easy and cheap. I would start there. Adding a battery is pretty cheap as well. Alts are expensive and if the others aren't fixing the issue then they become a must. When you get to the point of upgrading the alt, the rest is all ready to go.
alright so upgrade the big 3, add another battery, and upgrade the grounding straps, any suggestion on wire size all of this?
1/0 is the Standard that people will say. Deffently nothing smaller. You'll see how small the alt wire is when you get in to add to it.
The grounding will really help too. When you look at the mesh strap they use and compare it to the wire your adding in you'll laugh.
The other thing I would suggest is to run a ground back to your amps. Grounding to the frame of body is fine but it make a difference when you have a direct line.
alright so a direct ground to the amp from the batt, is a good thing?
With the big 3 am i suppose to combine the wires or remove one and replace with bigger one? Yes ive seen those grounding straps. They are small! I actually bought ground cables in proper lengths to replace them as i thought they were a little to small. But should i do those with 1/0 too or would the 4 gauge be big enough?
