i have the cat delete and i dont really think its any louder and thats good.
thinking about doing the muffler.i have seen a MPG gain without the cat and hoping for the same without the muffler. But i dont want the truck annoying loud or a drone while driving.
I deleted the muff and gutted the cat on my 03 ( stock exhaust). Not too loud, cant really hear a diff inside the cab except when you get on it, but still not bad. Lots and lots of sweet whisle though!
Try going to youtube.com and searching for muffler delete on a 6.0. Theres a bunch of videos to give you a better idea. I love how mine sounded, well prior to the kitty runing away...
im running straight pipe just went to it about 3 weeks ago from no cat muffler only and i can tell you its a big difference specially when you hit about 2000-2300 rpms its makes a pretty loud sounds i like it though
I run no cat no muffler, cut it off right after I got the truck its alittle louder but its a diesel. I don't know how much I picked up in mileage, couldn't have been a significant amount.
You can buy a "test pipe" from Ford for about $60 and just bolts on, no cutting. As for the muffler go to a custom exhaust place and get a piece of pipe or have them put it on. My 05 6.0 is all strait and from inside the cab its a little louder, not much unless you romp on it! 03 and 04 have the loud whistle. You should, I repeat should gain mpg, if you really try. Its hard to stay off the loud pedal though!!
