Does anyone know if the 2002 150 SuperCrew will be available with 3.73 LS gearing in the next few months? Thanks Mike

 

I had a 3.73 (non-LS) installed by the dealer before I took delivery of my SC. I haven't towed with it yet, but the 5.4 with that gearing feels like a big improvement over my '98 which had a 4.6/3.55. FMC is dumb for not making the 3.73 and 4.10 an option like Chevy does. I almost bought a Chevy for that reason until the dealership owner said he'd put in the 3.73 for me ;-)

 

Yes, I agree with you. If Ford wants to maintain its sales lead, certainly the 3.73 axle and also the 4.10 should be available as an option. I have a 93 Eddie Bauer Explorer I bought new which has the 3.73 LS axle and have towed very well with it for 9 years. Also I have friends who have owned similar Explorers with 3.27 and 3.55 axles. There is practically no difference in gas milage, but a lot of difference in towing power especially on long grades and hills. Thanks Mike
