Rust on bottom of doors

What are you guys doing about the rust on the bottom of the doors and along the bottom edge of the body?? I've seen a few trucks that have this. I couldn't see mine until I pulled the running boards off. It's not bad but I definitely want to get rid of it. I'm thinking about just having that whole bottom part rhino-lined.

Sorry to tell you this but once rust starts it isn't going to stop. Anything you do short of stripping it down to bare metal, replacing the damage and resealing/painting it is only going to be a ban-aid.

Doe any of those rust converters actually work, maybe something like Rust Bullet?

I was thinking about stripping down to bare metal, prime it, POR-15, then do some rhino. You guys think that will get rid of it for good? I know for a fact that this is a problem spot on a Superduty.

I used Rust Bullet and Rust Bullet Black Shell (my truck is black) on the bottoms of my doors and the bottom of my tailgate. They were not nearly as bad as Vacant's, but there was rust at several spots on the botom seam of both doors and about 3/4 of the way across the bottom inside seam of the tailgate. I cleaned it out with a stiff wire brush on my drill, wiped it out with acetone and used 2 coats of Rust Bullet following directions. Then I put on 2 coats of Rust Bullet Black Shell. That was 8 months ago. So far, so good.

Try to get it before the rust starts inside the seam at the bottom of the door. Of course, it's nearly impossible to tell when that starts.

I wash the inside bottoms of my doors and tailgate when I wash the truck and rinse them just like the rest of the truck. Use a slow stream of water on the bottoms of the doors.

Make sure the drain holes are clean on the doors and the tailgate.

Wipe out the door jambs and all around the tailgate when you are washing the truck.

Some other things, long mudflaps and/or running boards (not nerf bars) will keep slop from being thrown up off of the front tires into the bottoms of your doors.

Moving south of the Mason-Dixon Line would be the best answer. Why do you think we have so many transplants down here already?
