Have you checked the float levels and if you have, have you richened the secondaries? You may need to jump up a few jet sizes, in the Eldy you will have to remove the airhorn but is fairly simple and won't spill any fuel but make sure you have a clean screwdriver/needle-nose and area because the bowls will be open.

Check the timing with a light to see where you are at (so you can put it back if need be) and then loosen the dist and advance the timing a little bit (don't need the light for this), so the engine speeds up a little. Try it, and see if it helps.

Are you running w/the stock timing chain? It is set at 4* retarded cam timing. If so, this may be the culprit. The 351M was intalled with a 2150 2 bbl. & emissions junk, w/the timing retarded 4* via the timing chain.

I had upgraded to a 4 bbl. & Edelbrock on my 351M years ago, but didn't think about cam timing, had a bog, got crappy milage, & didn't come alaive until 2000 RPM. Installed an Edelbrock timing chain at "stright up" setting, set ignition timing at 10* initial, & it was quite pleasant, w/o the deraded "bog".

if it was running fine and then just started doing this, then i'm thinking maybe accelerator pump failure or vac. advance spring broke so it opens at same rate as primary. seems like clogged cats used to do that too...
