I have the 6.4L Lariat 4X4 with 20 inch rims. Can anyone tell me largest tire I can get on that rim and NOT hit the tire wells when turning sharp? I plan on leaving the truck stock (ie: No lifts, etc.). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I had my dealer chamge out the factory goodyear tires for bf goodrich all terrains 285/65/20's when I took delivery, and i had slight rubbing on the rear fender well on the passenger side. I simply cut a slit in the plastic there and pulled it back with zip ties. These tires make the truck look much better. I would not go much bigger than the 285's. Good luck !!!
z71burb has 35X12.50R20 ProComp Xtreme A/T's and JKBrad has the 285/65R20 BFG's. I know z71burb said he has no rubbing problems which I can confirm since I also know someone with a '08 and the same ProComps with no rubbing. Not sure about the BFG's, but they should not rub either as they are almost exactly the same height as the ProComp's but are narrower.
I'm also looking at getting the Raceline Raptor 18 X 9 +25 offset. The only thing holding me back is, I don't know how a tire can be mounted on it without tearing up the bead or the rim. Look at the picture on the Raceling website or Discount tire. The raised edges for the bolt accents on the face of the rim seem like they would get in the way of the mounting machine. I've called Rimzone and they don't know if it is a reverse mount or not. Look at it and see what you think.
I wasn't even looking at the date, my bad lol. Wow, thanks for even calling me on it. I have a 2005 FX4 super cab. No lift or level, I don't take it in the soup, just light washed out roads and some occasional playing if I see a place it might go when I'm camping. 285 65 18 BFG TKO2's seem to be the best tire for my application. I did change the stock rims to enkei blackhawks 18 X 8.5 +25 offset. Thinking about going with the 18 X 9 Raptors though. Soon as I can figure out those accents on the face of the rim. I'll say one thing about the enkei's, they are light and strong. I swear my truck seems to have more power, the stock 5.4 needs all the help it can get. But I've drove the hell out of that truck and it still does what I need it to do. I pull trailers and boats with it no problem.
