Distributor rotar stuck

I was changing the the spark plug wires a couple of days ago and decided to go ahead and check the distributor cap and rotar while i was at it. i pulled of the cap and noticed that the "points"(the small metal tabs, thats what i call them in the tractor) were in pretty poor shape, so i decided to replace the cap and rotar. i reached down and pulled up on the rotar, its stuck, ?whats wrong with it, i never had a problum with it before. I pulled as hard as i felt it was safe to, i dont want to break anything. has this happened to anyone else? what should i do? thanks.

Oh ya they get stuck really good sometimes .. I once had to use a little pry bar to get it loose once. but then I put a light coat of grease on the end so it wouldn't happen again.
