Air compressor trouble
I will be putting a filter in line, and I will try to run my permanant line up like you did with yours. I will see if the guy who sold me the blow off valve will swap it. He certainly should.
Thanks for your $0.02!
If you will study the diagram at TPTools.com, you will know all you need to know to construct a system that will give you dry air and allow you to add compressor volume later.
Good luck,
As for the leak, it's calmed down. I checked everything, and haven't changed anything either. But it is calmed down. I lost maybe 10 psi overnight. That's fine for me. I don't wanna beat a dead horse.
I have put the filter on now too, and a new clean air hose to go with it. I ran the unit hard yesterday, and it got tired. Got to the point where it was slugish starting up. Not sure what that means, but it did a pretty good job. Put so much time and money into the thing now, I probably could have bought a brand new campbell hausfeld upright! But I am happy with the job I have done. Thanks for all the help!
Then I decided to check the oil. The previous owner told me he recently changed the oil and it was good to go for awhile. LIAR! The oil was absolutely filthy. I'll put some new oil in it. If the piston is letting a lot of oil through, that might be the piston ring right?
I'm about to the point where I am about to put this thing up on craigslist and try to get some money back out of it. I really need a compressor that works....like yesterday.
I never like to buy an important tool like this from harbor freight, but I saw some ok looking 30 gal compressors there the other day for under $400. They have their brand, and campbell hausfeld. Is the campbell hausfeld worth spending money on? I am just getting so tired all this time I'm spending on this. I need to get to work already!
