I was driving home from Houston to Dallas today and found that my 7.3 turbo was cutting out around 2500 rpm's. Basically the truck runs fine but when I put the pedal down and the revs hit 2500ish the turbo cuts out and the idle just kinda stagnates. I found that I could work it up past 2500 if I wen easy on the throttle but when the boost hit a certain point it felt as if I was hitting the rev limiter... complete loss of power and the truck would start to slow down.
Any ideas?
ps I have no boost guage so I am uncertain of my boost level at cutout.

You need to make sure you don't have a boost leak or an exhaust leak. Check all your intake boots for tightness and also look at your up pipes for soot. I doubt the truck is defueling due to excessive boost but you have not given us much info on the truck. You could also be having a fuel problem where the pump is not keeping up with demand. What year and how many miles on the truck? When was the last time the fuel filter was changed? How old is the engine oil? What kind of air filter are you using and what shape is that in?
EDIT: whoops, I quoted all of that to ask what you mean by "the turbo cuts out and the idle stagnates"?

does your service engine light come on when this happens? does it go off shortly after you let up on the throttle?
it could be an overboost situation, or your HPOP may not be able to keep up with the oil demands of the injectors.
Sometimes luckily it is the simple things......still never hurts to come on here and ask! Always seems to trigger help from all angles. Glad you got'r fixed! Welcome to FTE by the way!
