Question axel swap?

hey guys. im not an axel expert or anything buy i do believe my axel is not stock. i could be completely wrong though. it jsut seems oddly bigger then all other trucks that are my model. things that have led me to believe the axel is swapped is cause the previous owned used the truck for towing. theres a programmer port under my dash and an aftermarket tow hitch on the back. the drive shaft is odly bigger too? if you change one wouldnt you ahve to change the other? someone please help me out here. notice the green sticker on the right side. anyone elses axel have that? and my drive shaft is silver. i belive 3.5 inches in diameter. theres a sticker that says that anyways. thank you.

my truck is a 2001 f.150 xlt 5.4 triton. 2wd supercrew

it looks just like mine, i'm no axle expert either are there two metal tags on the cover plate bolts anywhere. these have numbers on them that might give you the answer. otherwise see if you can get any numbers of the green tag and take to your dealer to see if it is a ford part good luck

the 5.4l got a bigger axle than the 4.6l, the tow hitch is the same as everyone elses, and the port under the dash is called OBD2 and its also stock on every truck...

Hope this helps

hmmm. interesting. yeah i know the axel on a 5.4 is bigger. no doubt about that. but the green sticker throws me off. and i cant find any ford embelems of marking of any company anywhere on the axel. i appreciate the information. yeah the tow hitch is stock. saw the ford embelem on the power switch after you posted. haha. and as far as this OBD2 port goes. imma have to snap a pic of it for you guys. its just funny where its placed. its not hidden. its in plain view. i would think ford wouldnt place its OBD2 in plain view. hmmm. imma go snap that pic right now and post it. thanks guys.

cool cool. i bough the truck in december. i got a sick price on it. its silver, supercrew, limo tint, fog lights, clear corners, eagle racing rims, mastercraft tires 315/75/16, flowmaster dual exhaust, undercorver tonnau cover, line-x spray on bedliner, k&n intake, no dents no accidents. yes 6 inch fabtech lift. i love it. and 3 inch body lift. you cant tell by looking at it. its hidden very well and had 86,000 miles on it. all for $13,500 out the door. what do ya think about that?

I notice you are talking about the rear axle. Could you tell me what kind of socket I need to remove the driveshaft from the rear axle. They look like internal stars, but i have yet to find a socket to loosen them. Thanks

i request for my membership to the so cal chapter. hopefully i get in soon! and yes, i will be at the meet sunday. i cant wait. im a newb to this forum and im down to meet some cool people. concerning the body lift....believe it or not, i didnt even notice it had one!!!! honnestly. it just looked like a regular shocks and springs lift. just the other week i decide to crawl under the truck to give the lift a good cleaning. sure enough, there were the spacers, all around the body. i was laughing so hard. i cant believe i didnt see it. comedy haha. what covers up the body lift is the flaps in the wheel well. there extended, almost as if it was a dress up kit for your wheel well. it looks really clean. you"ll see what im talking aobut sunday at the meet. and the step rails cover it up too. but yeah, im stoked for this meet!

That axle is stock. The 5.4s come with a ford 9.75(basically eq to a dana 60) and the 4.2/4.6 comes with a ford 8.8
