I realize that ther's probably no reason to drive "on road" in a 4 door F250 at over 95 MPH, but...... When I pay over 40,000 big ones for a vehicle, I should be able to run it (at least once) as fast as she'll run ! My 4door - 5 spd Auto will only do 97. That's not right. The dealer says they can't knock off the top end limit. What can I do? The wife & I love it on the highway, & in the Colorado Rockies (with tow/haul mode). I've had this thing for two years (with vacations in Co.) & been across Mosquito pass & many others, & have never needed an alignment. But, I'd like to run her "flat out" just one time.
5 of your 7 posts on FTE are complaining about how bad the mileage sucks. Now that fuel is more expensive than when you posted those complaints, you want to drive your giant brick 100 mph? What does not needing an alignment have to do with anything? I'm not following your train of thought here. You already ran it 'flat-out' and it did 97 mph. Be happy the tires didn't come apart or a Highway Patrolman didn't toss you in the slammer!
One time I had my old Chevelle doing 120 on a straight road. At this speed, the front end had lifted enough that I lost steering capability. My suspension was simply not designed for 120.
I realize that these trucks are HEAVY, but hitting one chug hole at speeds over 100 with a truck that has been known to have a "death wobble" seems like something to reconsider (FWIW - I rolled my 2005 6.0L from a pretty slight over correction on a curve - easy to do).
All should use their "new found" information wisely. ESPECIALLY be careful pushing the speeds on these trucks when you do not know the condition of the road up ahead. If you have an IRRESISTABLE URGE, hopefully you do it when you are on a desolate road and you are not jeopardizing other cars and people that may also be on the road.

man i just wasted my time writing you a PM explaining how to overcome this with a stock truck, but you can't receive PM's apparantly..
i am not going to post this trick in the open forum for liability reasons... but i can tell you how to reset your truck to run to a higher speed w/out adding a programmer or anything like that.. PM if interested
yeah he's partly right on how to do it, but not quite...
i believe the post should been deleted too, that's why i tried to send a PM, but that kind of info should be thrown on a open forum that's heavily moderated
This has got to be one of the most stupid posts I've seen in years. Complaining because your 8000 lb truck only goes 97 mph? Let me know where you live so I can STAY AWAY. The only positive thing that might come out of you going faster is maybe you'll remove yourself from the gene pool!

If I post a message telling someone how to make their truck go fast enough to exceed the speed rating of their tires, and a tire comes apart and kills a few people - like the driver, his wife and a couple of kids in the econo box he was passing when it blew, what percentage of MY net worth do you think the lawyers will get when its over?
you guys are harsh!!I will almost bet all of you have been over 97 mph! Just dont do it in the mountains, i know i cruise at 80-85 mph all day long! The only thing its hurt so far is my wallet and driving record!
Of course I've had my truck up to the speed limiter. But no one helped me. My only point was that that if you show someone how to do something dangerous that he didn't know how to do previously and something bad happens you'll be open season for the lawyers.
One of my (many) hobbies is as an amatuer machinist. I've had numerous requests from friends to fabricate parts for their vehicles - wheel spacers, suspension components, etc. If it's a safety related part I always decline. The liability is just too great.

I found the thread to be very entertaining but in the end you are right about the liability.
