first you want if you have an automatic is put it into 1st gear(so the shifter is all the way down. then bring the steering wheel down as far as it will go. then pull the dash bezel(that goes around the radio, heater controls, lite switch, and so forth). All the interferences are plugged in you'll have to unplug them 12V power outlet, 4wheel drive switch( if you have one) headlight switch. then after all of that you can get to the gauge cluster. there are four bolts and you have the automatic(if equipped) indicator to remove carefully. Tip the cluster towards you then unplug three plug in wires(which are a pain). After all that you got to depress the clips that hold the light in and pull out. I hope it helps just be patience and don't muscle anything.... bulb number is 194 the other bulbs for the idiot lights are colored and i don't know the part number.
Welcome to FTE. dt444e basically got it outlined for you. The top dash part just unsnaps and pops off. He did forget to mention you need to remove the radio to get the dash piece off. If you stop by your local auto parts store you can buy a set of U-shaped Ford radio removal tools and your 194 bulbs. Slide those in the holes on your radio and pull that out first. There are 2 small (phillips I believe) screws above the radio that point up you may want to loosen before removing the dash. I didn't, but others have recommended to do so to be on the safe side.
