Got 60 grand??

Not exactly a truck listing, but if this baby is what they say it is, it definitely belongs in the FE forum.

Very nice. The cemetery is concerning though. I bet it flys.

Yea nice backround for the pics!! Nice car but an odd listing. Says the car has a 427 sideoiler. 64 427 was still the topoiler block in production. Cammer prototypes were being build in late 64 so I believe the sideoiler blocks might have been available. The way the listing reads it states everything is original. So I dunno on this one? Nascar option? Can only speculate the original owner may have had some Drag or Nascar ties. Even tho protocall defies the sideoiler block being in a 64. Could have been a dealer install possibly. But for the money involved I'd poke a stick at it first and see what the deal is. Other than that it's a damm nice one!!!

Some of it looks too good. Exhaust manifolds look like they just came out of the box. The trans almost looks aluminum.

I knew a guy in the early 70s with a '64 427 4 gear. He was running it with open headers one time at 1 or 2 am. We were on a road that was long and straight. He turned on to our road probably just short of a mile from us. We had a drag strip nearby, so I'd heard just about everything go through the gears. But at 2AM out of a deep sleep, this thing sounded like a monster come alive. The gear shifts were like a sledgehammer on a anvil. I would guess he went by our house north of 140. Couple of neighbors were not amused, but what could they do?

Not sure whatever happend to that car. He painted it purple from black, used that crap upholstry coloring to go from white to black inside. Had a white strip around back end like Dodge Dart...

My current neighbor has a '63 and a '65 in the same trim, along with a '66 Chev Impala SS, again with 427/4 gear. He never goes by at 140 though...

My question is....how do you find a car like that, that has not been registered in 40 years? IF that listing was legit, I would have mortgaged my future to have a chance at that car. I have a daughter in college right now so......60K was 50K over my budget.

Finding one? Luck is about it. Having someone know someone, that knows someone that has one........etc.

Easier and cheaper to just build yourself a clone.

Know someone that got a 48 Pontiac superchief like that. His neighbors husband bought the car new in 48, and then died shortly thereafter (1953ish, he was only in his 30's or so)). The car sat uptouched in the attached garage for 50 years. One day he walked by the house, saw the garage door open, saw the woman there and approached her about the car.

Car only had about 40,000 miles on it and once he washed and waxed it, it looked like it had just rolled off the assembly line. Still had period bias tires on it and everything.
