I was wondering about the opinions of a good all terrain that isn't too expensive. I am looking for something that will be good for light mud but won't hum too bad on the road. also price is pretty important. I don't wanna buy super expensive tires. I'm looking for stock 31X10.50R15. Any opinions would be great. I was looking at either BFG All Terrains or Mud Terrains.
bfg is a great tire period. both AT and MT wear well. Try costco, walmart and discount/americas tire. they have the best prices on the bfg brand. the MT's are more aggressive so they will be a bit louder .
I just put a set of BFG all terrains on my 80 Bronco, 33" and they are alot quieter than what I had on before. I have had it in snow, ice and dry roads and so far all is good. I got mine at Costco.
I had a set of 30x9.50 Cooper Discoverer STs on my 95 GMC Jimmy 4wd. Those things were awesome everywhere, I never got stuck (unless I was doing something stupid) They were a bit noisy by some people's standards, but they didn't bother me. They wore like iron, great traction on and off road.
I got the Futura dakotas from pep boys. I got them for $90.00 out the door for
33x12.50r 15 They are quiet on the road, awesome in the sand and if you blip the
throttle every now and then they stay clean. I think they cahnged the name to
something else but they are still dakota's I didn't even balance them just mounted
them myself and they must be pretty balanced carcass since I don't have any vibe
problems or weird wearing. They have been on for la few years now and they are
wearing good and don't have dry rot ( but I do put armor all on them twice a year)
I was told that cooper actual makes them and rebrands them for pep boys, I have
the futura scramblers on the Ranger and they still have a lot of tread on them and
we have 45,000 miles on them. They stair step a bit but then I just rotate them.
I think we paid $42.00 for those in 235/75 r15 They do hum abit when the stair step
gets pronounced but they get good traction for more road based tread.
a friend has a dodge ram with 265 bfg all terrain ko's, has 60K miles on them and you can still fit your pinky down between the tread blocks, and they will eat like crazy. I just bought a used set of 315/70/17's for my bronco and I love them.
BFG's are probably the best tires for a on/off road truck. I would be running them if they made them in my size. Just a note, I heard some where that every car/light truck tire on earth is made by one of seven companies. Don't know if its true.
BFG definitely, here in my country they´re kind of expensive (as they are imports), but they worth it, Firestone AT is also very good, we also have an amazing model, the Firestone ATX 23° , i´ve heard a truck runned over 120.000 miles on a set (also consider that roads are rougher here), mine have 35.000 and starting to show wear (but i have some suspension-alignement issues), i can tell you this model is the one that has lasted the longer on my truck, but i think they only produce them in Venezuela.
