Hey all, I have a 1949 F-3 with the Flathead 6, I am going to be rebuilding it hopfully next winter and I was wondering some good HP increase tips. I am already thinking, Bore it, cam it, any ther good easy things to do?
THis is going to be a work truck, carrying hay bales but it is also going to be a daily summer driver to and from school. I have heard that the sixs are pretty easy to turbo? is that right? I kno with the V-8s people always blow em' but what about the 6?
i've seen on other forums discussing primarily ford v-8 and hudson sixes that they werent recomending turbocharging as they fear the extra heat will destroy / crack the begeezuz outta the exhaust side . dont no if there's any merit to it , but one of the guys is running a supercharged hudson and has tried it and had these issues with his endeavors so ............
If you aren't too far into that 226 probably the best way to go would be to look for the bigger 254 Flathead 6. It was used in the F6 they can be elusive but lurking around. I found one but it had thrown a rod and I have sense decided to throw in the towel and go with a 53 Merc V8.
