Guy says the cluster is out of a 95. Anyone with a 96 tach cluster want to trade?

Take the guts out of both clusters, put the tach cluster guts into the white panel for your 96 and I'll bet it works fine. The differences are all in the printed circuit board as far as I could tell when I did the swap in my old 95.

They are totally different. Both the white panel and circuits are all different from one another and nothing but the speedo would swap back and forth.

I had both of them apart side by side already trying to make something work and there is just no way.

When I get the right one and pull the wrong one out of my truck I will take some side by side pics of all three clusters and post them up for future reference for others.

I just swapped a 94 Tach cluster out of an F-150 auto into my 95 F-250 with a 5 speed. The tack and everything work great no dummy lights or anything, but when I had done that my alternator isn't charging, It had been acting up and needed replaced anyways so I get a new one, same problem. I take the new one in it tests fine, I went down the street to advanced it tested fine again, but they ended up selling me a new connector for the alternator it was like 8 dollars and I'm thinking well maybe I missed something. I come home put it back in start it still not charging, I notice that the voltmeter in my new cluster does work, but still no charging.

So I search the forums hear because I can't do anything else tonight and find this thread about swapping clusters can cause that. I sent an e-mail to the guy I bought it from to verify the year, but it looks like I picked the right one for my truck.

So could there be any other conceivable problem that would cause me not to charge?

EDIT: The charge light is also not coming on even though it's discharging while running

EDIT AGAIN: Also if someone could explain to me the re-wire process on the cluster or to remedy this problem. considering the cluster is causing the problem.

Thanks
-Jim

Look at the part number to tell what year the part is from.

*EDIT* In the first 4-5 digits of the part number should be the year, ie f2=1992
