Unhappy Driver Side Mirror

Some SOB broke/cracked the glass in my driver side power adjustable mirror, '97, F150, Lariate, ccab. Glass is still in place so I cannot see what is behind the mirror glass.

Can I just replace the glass part or do I have to replace the entire assembly?

I had the same problem when I bought my truck back over 6 years ago. Local Ford dealer said I had to replace the whole assembly so I went to a local windshield/glass shop to see if what they could do.
The owner came out with this book that had Lord knows how many different mirror designs in it! Anyway, he ordered just a replacement mirror glass and it cost me 10 bucks.
The replacement is just slightly smaller so it will fit in the housing.
