Can anyone tell me how to replace just the glass portion on the drivers side mirror on a 2000? The dealership wants just my left arm to replace it. They have just the replacement glass, but said if I do it wrong then the whole mirror would have to be replaced. Anyone have any experience in this? The mirror is heated/powered if that makes a difference. Thanks.

It is very easy. Take and push the mirror to the furthest outside setting (driver side, push the mirror to the far left). You are trying to expose the area on the right to get a grip on the mirror. Once you get a grip pull the mirror straight out towards you. There are 4 pins that hold the mirror in place. Two guide pins and two motor guide pins (have a "V" shape to them). Once you get it out, disconnect the wiring connector.
Re-install is much the same. transfer the 2 guide pins to the back of the new mirror. The 2 motor pins, place them back in the motors and reseat the dust covers. The motor pins have little "nubs" on them, you need to turn these so that they face toward the center of the mirror (look at the back of the mirror and see how they enter the holes. Re-connect the wiring, place the mirror back in the housing (make sure the guide pins are in the holes) and "push" it back in place. The motor pins should "pop" back in their holes on the mirror with relative ease. If they do not then check that the "nubs" are still positioned correctly.
If you need pics then take a look at the link I provided, but you do not need to remove the door trim, mirror housing or all that crap.
