I love them I have them on my F250 Crew Cab and the wife has them on her 08 Edge. LaxPlaya21 is right. They can cause bad habits when driving something else and you are backing up waiting for the beep and realize you don't have them. I guess the good news is I have so far realized in time.
Mine were broken when I bought my truck, after fixing them by replacing a sensor, I wonder why it was not one of the first things on the to do list. I love having them except when I am trying to thread the snowmobile trailer into place, everytime you shift out of reverse you need to turn the buzzer back off when you go to reverse again or the buzzer drives you nuts.

My 2003 worked like that. The dealer programmed something (maybe it was on a TSB) and now when I turn it off it stays off for the entire key cycle. I love those things - they will freeze over the odd time with snow or when leaving a car wash without drying them off in freezing temps but it just beeps steady when you put it in reverse so the default is good.
Im my opinion they are totaly worth it. I love mine, however, tend to rely on them more than mirror, and in the rain they dont exactly warn me until its too late. oops...
backing up to trailers is alot easier, each trailer I have is just a little different, but once you figure out the sweet spot, I can stop with the ball perfect under the hitch every time. Drives my workers nuts when they are trying to "Direct" me back and I all but ignore them, and stop the truck exactly where I want it.
I love em. When I ordered my truck, I had the sensors and the camera installed. The sensors are responsive enough to alert you in time before a collision. Even if you can not see it looking out the back,( I still turn around when backing up) A quick glance at the rearview mirror and I can decide just how much further back I can go. (Them pesky fire plugs and all) The Camera also makes hooking up the trailer a snap, even solo.<O</O
Heck am on my third set on the F350 ! A cell phone driver - no license - no insurnace destroyed the first bumper. A Ford Focus slid under the 2nd bumber on an icy morning. Now if I could get those ultrasonics, to give me a little advance warning before
!BANG!
Did anybody try to install a Reverse Sensors System on a truck that did not come with them? if so did you use parts from Ford or did you buy aftermarket? cost est?
How does the sensor work when you back up with a 5th-wheel or trailer attached, does it beep all the time because it is "sensing" the towed rig? Or is the trailer/5th-wheel far enough away from the sensors to trigger them?

There is an on/off button on the dash to disable it. It will reset when truck is restarted again.
