[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-Feb-02 AT 03:45 PM (EST)]hay guys how is everyone today i have a question for you all im looking to buy a 1978 bronco it has a nice new paint no rust 4 inch lift nice tires excellent interior and is overall in pretty good shape my question is can you tell if the motor has ever been rebuilt it has hedders and good exhaust it also looks like it has a small oil leak from the rear main seal this guy wants 4000 for it this will be my daily driver so i need to make sure it is dependable the bronco is at a dealership and originally came from denver any help is really appricated thanks

p.s. the truck dosent smoke at all while idling or at start up and seems to run pretty good
If I'm not mistaken, Ford painted their engines after the long block was assembled. If there is a noticable head gasket not painted blue, you have a rebuild. Also, athe the front of the intake, or rear for that matter. One other thing with smoking. Check if there is any on decel.

i did not get a chance to check it out today to see how bad it was leaking but i will tomorrow when i drive it and look for the new gasket or rv sealant and head gasket

if you mean sticker saying it was rebuilt there is not one any where on the vehicle only a emisions sticker
