Well this makes at least 3 of us. I just wish pulling my frozen locks out did not seem like such an intimidating job cuz that is what I really need to do.
Mark, pulling the lock actuators out is really not a big job, half hour taking your time.

Sure, pretty simple. I already mentioned the potential of injury using a slim jim on side impact airbag equipped vehicles. The other reason, well major one, is because the person will tell you they do not care about any damage to the vehicle as long as they get in, then they sue the department for damage. I don't even bother with it most of the time, and that is why I do not carry a slim jim. If I need to get in quickly, a window is getting smashed.
There are other reasons but those are the biggies.

gotcha, i was just curious as i know many departments around the area will no longer do it anymore either.
Too bad I wasn't there with a vidio camera. Maybe we could have won some money.
Every one of our cars has a spare at HQs. I will say I broke into my own car because I wasn't making "that call" for help. I now have two spares for it.
I have only purchased three new vehicles in my life. One car, a motorcycle, and in 1995, a Ford F-150 extended cab 4WD. More goodies than an Eddie Bauer.
Well, I had keyless entry, and I didn't have the truck that long. This is when I lived in Amarillo, TX. I had a fairly new girlfriend, and we spent New Years eve out and stayed at a motel.
We are leaving the next morning, and it is frigging COLD, windy, snow, everything nasty. So, I start the truck, take the fob in the hotel. We go out to get in the truck, and KEWL me, can't unlock the dang doors. Talk about PISSED!!!
Boy, was I the man at that point. I had to have my roommate come bring me my spare key. Actually, I had to wait for him to wake up.
Very embarrassing, and stupid of the manufacturer to design something like that.
I carry a spare illegal Mexican (lots around in North Florida). They seem like the only ones who can effectively "pop the locks with a screwdriver," with minimal damage to the vehicle. It must be part of their mandatory criminal training before crossing.
I read this whole thread chuckling because of this quote...priceless! They need to make a spoof commercial- "It's so easy an illegal alien can do it." LOL! Lord, I apoligize!
Hey, somebody please report me to Cookie or Ryan before I get out of hand.
OK Jason, I will report you if you like.
That post cracked me up. I don't see it as racist. They are the #1 problem here right now, not because of their race, but because they are here illegally. They come in such #s it is hard to remove them. Do you have any idea how much $ my parents spent to have my grandmother come to this country legally so my mom could take care of her in her golden years? That took years. Nobody wants to talk about that. The system sucks. Those folks need to go back to Mexico period. Why do we have laws if we don't enforce them?
I will even tell you this much too, I take them to jail every chance I get. Imagine this, you get hit by a drunk or sober person who has no license, is here illegally, and has no insurance. What are your chances of recovering your loss unless you have proper insurance? Of course they have no license as they cannot get one being illegal and therefore will have no insurance. All this does is cost us more $$ in insurance.
Blah blah, all I can say is I try to do my part by making them post bail/bond. The system lets them out. Bet we could round up a hundred a day at the construction sites just here. Think they are paying income tax or social security? NOT.
