How does a lease return work? Please help me on this!
Hey guys... I have a 2005 6.0 with a whack of extra accessories on it likebushwacker flares, air intake, exhaust, FS2500 oil filter system, and an Edge module (which I have taken out for every service). This truck was leased and the reason I sunk the dough into it was because I intended on buying it after the lease came due. I am thinking about giving it back at the end of the month because the head gaskets are starting to go (diagnosed by the dealer). I know I bite the bullet on the accessories but what happens to me when they go to take the truck back and find out it had a "module" installed or that it has an after-market intake and exhaust on it? So here's the question;
Do they just take it back and everything is cool or what?
I was gonna keep the truck if they agreed that when they did the head gaskets they used the ARP head-studs I purchased (that way I know I'm not gonna be coming back in another 2-3 years with the same problem) but I think they will put the Ford headbolts on. Oh yeah... this truck was not bagged! Most people figure if you have the adds it's been bagged and that's not the case.
WOW you put in alot of great stuff into it. Can't help ya with your question but if you do return it let me know if you are going to sell any of your stuff.

The condition of the return is on the lease contract. It will tell you the mileage and penalties for extra miles, date of turn in, penalties for overdue... It should be interesting to see how they react to all the cool guy stuff you put on there.

Yes but will they make me buy the truck when they find out that I have used a module?
will you be getting another truck from ford at the time you turn this one in?
No I don't think so. I planned on buying this one out and the agreed upon price before I signed the lease was $61,000.00. I only have 50,000km on it and it already needs engine work. I hoped to keep this truck for like 10 yrs at that price. I bought a diesel for the towing and the supposed longevity of the engine. I think the days of a diesel lasting for 500,000km+ are over and it's a little upsetting.
Why did you spend all that dough before you owned the truck? You are in no mans land now! Good luck.If the offer a cheque before they look at it , take the money and run.IMHO
They will probably charge whatever it costs to put it back to stock. They can't sell it that way, at least not on a regular dealer lot for blue book price.

Your not saying they are asking $61k after the lease are you? Thats way too much. It wouldn't be unusual to pay that much including what you paid to lease it. If you leased it for 3 years@ the conservative monthly of $500 a month, you paid $18k and to ask 61 more for a 3 year old truck is over the top.
I aggree with Armymark, 61 seems like a really high number. You can buy a new one for that. My 04 was 32 grand when I bought it a couple of years ago and it was a lease back. It had 69k kilos at the time.

No the buyout is $40,000. I put $10,000 down on the lease so my payments would be around the $600 mark and if I do buy it out the payments would be about the same.

Like I said... I was hoping to get some longevity out of the truck and buy it out at the end of the lease. My first new vehicle and I bought the "Big Daddy" so I could enjoy it for years.
