The truck will be sent to an auction and there they do an overall condition report. They will not check for any chips or any other mods. The only thing that might hurt is the lift. The reason for that is they have to announce altered suspension when it runs through, but i highly doubt they will charge you for it. main concerns are body and interior damage. If the truck is clean you will be alright.

Cool! That's what I was hoping to hear. I hope that is in fact the case cuz the truck is mint inside and out and it's not lifted. Just had a module in it.

Why not just keep it like you where planning on? You say you already bought the head studs. If the gaskets are going/gone is it not under warranty with only 50K on it?

Why would the dealer not install the ARP studs if you ask them to when they are changing gaskets?

I will keep the truck if they install the ARP Headstuds but if they are only willing to do the work under warranty if the factory headbolts go back in then they can have their truck back. I have not bagged the truck and it is a common flaw with these trucks as I called 5 dealerships and they all admit it. They are standing behind "an improved gasket" theory and I know that's not true. So if they do it their way I will be out $4,000-$6,000 in another 50,000km (assuming the gaskets/bolts hold as long as these ones did) because the warranty will be over. No thanks! Great lookin' truck and really comfy for long hauls but I want the longevity.

In the best case it's going to cost you a butt-load of money to get into another vehicle. You'd be better off sticking to your original plan even if you have to pay an independent shop to do the studs. Even so, a lot of these trucks hold up just fine with Ford replaced headgaskets using stock bolts. If you can get it done under warranty just get it done, studs or not.

Then, dump the Edge before you do some real damage. But hey, it's your money.

They got you real good. For my 2007 Lariat including 3" blocks 35"x12.5x18 Toyo M/T's box liner, painted fender flares, 5" chrome nerf bars, vent visors and bug deflector, etc (everything installed by dealer $8500 in extras) I signed my lease for $61K on a 2 year lease and my residual is $32K. My head gaskets went out at 72,000km followed by the HPOP fitting and pump failure. Now she runs like new again. I was thinking of taking all the goodies off and and returning the truck but now I am thinking of keeping it again. I get up to 24mpg with my SCT tuner (tuff to beat with a gasser or even a new diesel). I now have 82,000km on the truck and am going to ask for a break on the residual due to the drop in used market prices. If I pulled my parts and sold them I'd think that I would be able to get 50% of new price locally so.

If you are at all concerned, return the truck to stock (remove tuner) and then reset the control modules. There are detailed discussions regarding tuner footprints and removal options. Ask your dealer about the studs (call in as an anonymous individual) then if they don't do it continue calling other dealers until you find one that will.
