Far more likely than not it will work. If it does happen to be out of a van, then the springs are spaced differently, but someone who knows more than me would have to decode those numbers. All I can tell you is that the axle itself and gears are a match.
Yes it had drum brakes I was going to take the gears and axles out of this one and put into my housing but that may not work may have to keep looking for the right gears I would like to put the L/S back in Thanks for the info
OK guys I need some advice. I cant find a limited slip rearend for my truck all I can find are open gears. How hard or expencive is it just to rebuild what I already have?
I have 33's on it with a 6" lift. The ring and pinionlooks to be good. I haven't taken it out yet just the cover. the other gears and clutches i guess are all chewed up. I know the bearings all need replaced. thanks for the info
You could go with a powertrax locker. It would run you $250 to $400 depending where you find one. It could be installed in an open or limited slip.Their main advantage is you don't have to remove the carrier and have to reset the backlash so no special tools are required such as with a detroit locker or an aftermarket limited slip.
Never heard of putting a spool in a street vehicle definantly cheaper though.
Have you tried searching car-part.com? I would think finding a limited slip rear would be your best bet.
I just got my complete rear end from the bone yard and I need someone to decode the umbers that are on the tag on the rear end. the people said theythought this was the right one but didnt know for sure.
my door code is H9 and the tag number are S844B 355 883A27 could somebody help please!!!!
S844B : is the plant it was manufactured in-you can look up the ford plant code #'s to see where it came from,-(Pilot plants usually mean Brazil,SA.)
355 : is the gear ratio, -3:55 gears
88 : 8.8 ring
3A27: year, month, day.= 83?-or-93? anyway, 3 is the year. - letters represent the months= A=jan, B=Feb, C=March, D=April etc,etc.
27 = twenty seventh day of the month.
So- its made on jan 27th of 83, or 93,..or 03??? don't know if they continued the date sequences into 2000.

I went back to your original post, you have a '94 and I presume it has the ABS plug on top of the Differential housing?-I'd take a guess its a '93 rear end you got from the junky.- My sticker on my doorjam is H5 -which is a 4:10 Limited slip of '88
If you were looking for a Limited slip rear, the ratio on the tag would read :
3L55 thats a limited slip, if it reads just 355 chances are its an open,or conventional,-not a limited slip.
