I have a 99.5 F250 w/7.3L auto. I tried to start my truck this morning to go to work and while waiting for the WTS light to go off so I could turn key off and cycle the GP's one more time, all my dash lights went out and there was a really fast clicking sound and the guage lights were flickering super fast and really dim. So I turned the key off and tried again and the same thing happened. It would be fine for about 4-5 seconds then the inst. panel would go out and start flickering and clicking. I took a different truck to work and came back to check it out and now it is doing it immediately when I turn the key to "on". I just replaced the ignition switch about two months ago(had to go to Advanced Auto due to noone else having them in stock, I know, I know..), but when that went out, it would do everything normally till I tried to start it up then everything lost power and nothing would happen. Any ideas???

I had the hood up and could hear fast clicking in the engine compartment when I had the key in the "on" position and it was coming from the injector drive module relay. I switched that relay with the blower motor relay and same thing happened. Also, the negative terminal on the pass. side battery is sizzling. So, I would guess there is a dead short somewhere, but don't know where to start looking. Thanks for any help.
I would check clean and tighten my ALL battery connections first.Alot of people on here come up with the same problem.Seems these trucks do some weird things with just some loose connections.Check there first anyway.
And as a side note.Your wait to start light is not an indicator of weather your glow plugs are cycling or not.Just turn the key on and leave it on for up to two minuets.You can prove this by just putting a test light on the glow plug side of the gpr and see for yourself of how long they are on.Many of us here put a little gpr led indicator on the relay.To tell us for sure when they are on or off.Here is a write up on how to do it.It cost about $8 bucks total and very handy.https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...cator-led.html
Connections are good, and both batteries have 12.6x volts. The clicking and flickering isn't happening when I try to start the truck, it happens when I first turn the key to on before I even try to start it.
I didnt see your post before I replied to the first one. I know the WTS light isn't a GP indicator, but I just let it go out the first time and then turn the key off and back on a second time and let it go out again instead of waiting the two minutes and it seems to do the trick. I got the idea from someone on here. I will try the battery connections and see what happens. Thanks for the replies. If anyone else has any other ideas, let em snap.
If you have power to the starter solenoid on the passenger fender well.Turn the key to the on pos and jump out the solenoid.See if that could be the cause.But again make sure every connection is tight cause thats what it sounds like.You turn the key to the on pos,not start.And hear clicking.Either low bats{have them load Both tested]or bad connection.

As far as the gpr.I believe that would be counter productive.You urn it off then It has to heat up again once you turn it on.If you leave it on its continuously heating the cylinder faster.Glow plug on = hot cylinder.My .02
Wow, I did not think that would fix it, but it did. I went out there and pulled both neg's off and there was just a LITTLE bit of grease in there. Wiped them off with a rag(don't have my terminal brush with me) and no flickering, no clicking! I've never seen that before. I had just cleaned them up when I bought the truck not a few months ago. Thanks a lot guys, you were right on the money and I'm sorry I ever doubted you, hehe.
And about the GPR, I can see that my way would probably put more stress on the system versus just letting it sit for another minute, so I'll do that. Thanks
