just filled up my daily driver (08 jetta) and looked at the diesel price.... 88 cents more than rug. good thing we drive the jetta around more than the X. i do miss my golf tdi tho.... compared to my jetta, i still saved money driving that thing since it got twice the milage of it's gas counterpart. i stll remember a few years ago when i had a diesel suburban, friends and family would envy the fact that diesel was less and i drove further than them... at this point i cant remember the last time diesel was less than regular...
i have even thought of selling the X just because of the high price of diesel, but i don't want more payments and so far it has never let me down. also with 6 kids, a 8 passenger vehicle is not easy to find, atleast one that will hold 4 car seats.....
all we can do is sit back and enjoy the ride. keep our vehilcles maintained to get the most mpg's and hope for the best down the road.
4.01 for diesel here in ca. wife drives the x with the diesel, bio fuel is 4.55, I drive a 97 f 350 with a 460 and paying 3.29 for regular. never thought the 460 would be the choice to drive. I will be driving the harley when the snow melts. Bob
If you wanna get a vague idea what's going on with prices... check nymex.com and click on the heating oil symbol HO to see if nothing else the pricing trends....and it doesn't look good.
Don't forget this is for home heating oil so the pricing per say is irrelevant since diesel fuel is more refined and has a boatload of state and federal taxes added to it but it does closely follow the same trends.
I saw over $4 today. I am at wits end with this crap. Even though it is not a good thing I was glad to see High octane fuel broke the 3.50 mark finally. Not that that is any better bveing my wife drives a V8 Sequioa. I guess we cant beat it anywhere without going back to small vehicles. My issue with the small vehicles is saftey for my family with the wckos we have driving in this state of NJ and all the DWI incidents within the state. I definately feel safe in my X and I know my wifes Toyota is safe after she hit a guy head on at 70 mph after he was an a_ _ and made a U turn on a major interstate. To go to a small car actually makes me nervous. Cost vs safety. May have to stick with safety for now.
I saw on the news that Oil Companys made big proffits..Then the house kills the Oil Company Tax breaks...So Oil companys say thats fine we will just make it up at the Pumps....Well I guess there doing just that.
