I was just at autozone to pick up a trannie filter kit for my 98 3.0 4x4. now, the girl typed all my info into there computer and it came back with two possible matches the first one is autozone part # TF215 @ $15.49. the second is part #TF213 @ $17.49. They are practically identical, well almost, TF213 has a cork gasket, one mounting screw and one "O" ring. While TF215 has a rubber gasket, one mounting screw and two "O" rings, one large, one small. Now then is there any way to determine which filter is the right one? I can't afford to buy both and wait until i have the truck dismanteled. I'm pretty sure My truck comes with the "4r44e transmission" is this correct? today is the day I take the pan off and change the filter, so I'll let you guys know how it looks inside. I would imagine it'll be quite dirty after 211,936 and never been changed. crazy right!? I'm going to blame the previous owner for that one. I don't know how it lasted this long? good truck I spose. thanks to all who have any info on this subject.
they are for deep and shallow pans. I am guessing here, but I think since you have the 4x4 it will be the deep pan. if you put the two filters side by side, one will have a deeper pickup. To make it easy, buy both and return the one that does not fit.
most kits will come with 2 diff orings. either kit should work but there might be more info like if you have a deep or shallow pan as stated above. this where having a good parts salesman helps a ton.
