It seems like most everyone on here is or has used the Motorcraft FL-1995 oil filter on their 7.3.
I use this filter as well.
I am wondering what brand of filter International uses on their DT444s? would it be a better filter than the FL-1995, which can be bought at most Wal-Marts for under $10.00.
Many here (including myself) use the Napa gold filter. It's part number is 1734 I believe. I have run it with Rotella T 15W 40 dino oil. Last oil change interval was 7,100 miles and they said I could try 9,000 this time.
Absolutely. Blackstone is telling me to try 9,000 this oil change with conventional oil. If you are going full synthetic 10,000 should be attainable. I would periodically send in a sample to Blackstone at first and see whats going on.
Heck yea! if trucker's had to change oil at 10,000 miles they would go out of business. There's filter's that are guaranteed 25,000 miles or 65,000 miles on bypass. Does DONALDSON ring a bell!
I use Baldwin (or sometimes FleetGuard) bypass filters on mine, and get good UOA's to at least 18,000.
But that's where I'm currently drawing the line with dino Delo.
From a post in another recent thread:
"Using Delo 15W-40. I'm currently on a 18,000 mile change interval, with bypass changes at 5,000, 10,000, and 15,000 miles, and Blackstone's at 6,000, 12,000, and 18,000."
Donaldson makes very good filter products, too!
You don't get the best at AutoZone and Walmart. Drive out to your local truck stop, or find a FleetPride in your area.
