front of the block near the timing pointer dowel, left side looking at the front of the block is where the build date code is hand stamped into the machined gasket surface

build date code is on the front lower left facing of the block. casting date code is on the top rear of the block next to the oil pressure sending unit.

I have a 351m block, without the 1” ridge near the distributor, does this signify anything of note? Were these leftover blocks, or cast somewhere unusual? Casting says D7TE A2B. Truck is a 78 F150 custom 2wd. The truck was ordered May 2nd, built in June and sold in early August of 78.

I do know some block dont have that 1" rib but i dont know why.

Easiest way to tell a C from the M or 400 is look at the bellhousing pattern, C has the same pattern as 302.
