strange sounds

I just finished replacing the o'rings on the oil cooler, got everything back together with no leaks. Replaced lost oil and anti freeze back to required levels. started truck to let it run and get up to temp, while truck was idleing it made several loud "clatter" noises, rpm increased then went back down and all sounded normal. it did this 3-4 times. shut everything off and checked fluid levels all ok. test drove and it did the same thing 1-2 times while driving, never lost oil pressure ( factory gauge). Did same thing one time this morn on way to work. other than that truck seems to run better and is more responsive. any ideas???

If I were to guess I'd say it's probably air being purged from the oil system.

sounds like air in the high pressure oil system, 10 to 15 miles of steady driving will remove any air in the high pressure oil system.
