I have a 79 bronco with a 351`c motor in it. its automatic trans has ***** the bed. i need another one. anyone know what model number or whatever transmission i need for this. thanks.
If it is a cleveland, it has the same bellhousing as other small block fords. A c-4 will do. If it is a 351 M (which is sometimes mistaken for a cleveland) it has a big block bell pattern. A c-6 will have to do.
count the tranny pan bolts to see what tranny you have (assuming it is either a c4 or c6). A c4 will have 11 bolts, a c6 will have 17 (i think)

A C4 or FMX would work, but I'd suggest a C6 if you are going to hot dog it at all. A B&M (or competitor) shift kit will crispen up the shifts nicely (though I would not suggest doing that with a tired used transmission). The shifts can be crisp enough to shear off an input shaft - been there, done that...
BTW - make sure that whatever transmission you get has the small block bolt pattern (289, 302, 351C, 351W). The 351M, 400, 429, 460, 428, 390, or 352 have a big-block bolt pattern and won't work for you. Come to think of it - make sure that if you use a different transmission than you have now, that it will work with your transfer case - may be some 'special' considerations such as length of the case...
