I have a 1973 F250 with very tired 360. It has the 4 spd and its a 4x4.
I have a lead on a nice 351C would it be a direct bolt in?
Any modifications required or change overs? It's bolted to a car C6 if I wanted to change to a auto would I just need to change the out put shaft and housing?
Mostly interested in the 351C any input would be great!
bell housings are different. The 351c uses the motor mounts and frame perches for the 302 although I THINK you can just bolt 302 motor mounts onto the frame perches for a 360.
NON of the accessory mounting brackets will hook up. Exhaust will have to be changed out.
Yes you can change a car c6 into a 4x4 version by changing output shaft and having the proper tcase adapter that will bolt to your tcase.
It can be done fairly easy but it is most definitely NOT a direct bolt in swap.

a 2wd C6 is not going to have anywhere to mount the 4x4 shifter and a 73 F250 would have a divorced transfer case so the transfer case does not bolt to the trans.

the shift lever mount is on the adapter NOT on the trans case.
I have a 351C in my '78. You'll need new mounts, bell housing, and since you have 4wd you'll need to switch it to a rear sump oil pan. Oil pan is the hardest to find. To switch to rear sump you'll need the pan, oil pickup, dipstick, dipstick tube, and oil pickup main bolt. The oil pan on a 351c is the same as a 351m/400. You'll also need to modify you're exhaust and things like that but it's doable.
