that is weird, cause if you change your starter (which I just did) oil coming out is not an issue. all you have to worry about the power cables and 3 or two bolts.
It is probably coming from your pedestal up above the starter. The "O" rings are probably leaking.. It is pretty common to have a leak here. Double check your engine valley for oil however..(could be your hpop if you have oil in the valley) . My petestal is leaking a littel but not enough to change the o rings yet.
Apology accepted, it's just that I did not know you could get that good of a view of it, course I have a 2wd and do not have the ground clearance most every other member here has. But I do get much better mpg.
Okay, now that sounds a little easier, but both times I've changed my starter I've been occupied doing just that. But i'ts still a good photo, why you did it, let alone saved it is kind of a mystery, but to each his own.

Some people are turned on by feet, others by legs.................

Last November I thought I had an oil leak from the flange but it turned out to be the dipstick tube o-ring. I have actually helped a few people fix an oil leak by posting that pic. If you have a 500 Gigabit back-up hard drive you tend to save a lot of crap . Besides I never said I took the picture. I found it posted here on FTE. The pic was posted by Andy aka FatDiesel. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...with-pics.html
are you sure its (oil)?
just today i had a new (ground) leak and it was coming off the starter. but the puddle was fuel. above the starter, on the back of the engine is a fuel return line. you can follow it from the fuel filter housing. anyway it somehow was 1/8 of a turn loose. tightend it, and no more leak.
