Hi all, did FD & WW last weekend and it made a big difference, it sure does whistle now. Thanks to everybody for all the great mods, I love my TRUCK. Dave
Just wait till you pull a load with it , I hauled about 17 tons of gravel Fri for my drive and it was warm enough to have my windows down MAN did it sound sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
17 TONS?? That's 34k + ~8k of truck, or about twice its rating. Did you pull that stuff any distance? There was a guy that pulled a whole mobile home that posted pics here, but it wasn't that far and only on the back roads. That's the biggest load I've heard of (besides the trailer house), so that's why I'm asking...
We did my son's on Friday. It was like skinning a snake. Foil wasn't bad, but the insulation and glue was nasty. We didn't have any remove, so I used a propane torch and heated the glue slighty, then a non abrasive wheel on a drill. Took a while, but it all came off. You can really hear the turbo whine.
Make sure you use the thick stuff and get some thick rubber gloves, it burns really bad if you get it on ya, and i used a plastic putty knife to scrape it, get 2 they kind of melt. keep it wet with the remover and it comes off pretty easy. Dave

No no no I didn't do it all at once the stupid dump trailer I rented was suposed to handle 5 ton at a time but it couldn't . THe first load was 5 ton after that I kept it at 3 ton or the hoist wouldn't work to tilt the bed. After I was done I had to replace all the brake lines on the trailer ( surge brakes ) they had the lines run in between the axle and frame and when I put 5 ton on it I snapped them all because the frame sat down on the axles.

lmao.... Oh, okay. I was about to give you big kudos for having some serious testicular fortitude....
Dude!! That must've really sucked! How did you get it clean??
Well im a pretty small dude, around 5'7" - 155 . I i just posted up on the entire engine and worked it off Slowly! then used some wd-40 when i finished ripping off the foil and as much insulation as i could. Took a good 55 minutes. Wasn't terrible, but id much rather be moding something else
