Wife figured it out. I recently had to change the bulb in the third brake light mounted on the cab. The gray electric snap bracket was rattling against the roof.

i had a similar problem that drove me nuts for months on my 95 bronco (drum brakes) CHECK THE REAR BRAKE hardware could be a loose caliper/pad or e-brake lever.
