I see where ford has a update to correct the clogged air filter from snow. Sounds like a cold weather cover for the grille. I have seen post where some have installed the custom stainless steel grille covers with the small slots in them and said they are solving the problem without and heating up issues, anyone else have any information on this?
I use a slotted winter front all winter but I dont plow. I would think working it hard plowing you would want it opened up as much as possible for cooling the tranny. As long as its snow plow prepped it shouldnt be a problem. Worst case is the wet blowing snow that sticks. Even if you just covered the part of the grill with the fresh air intake with that piece would probably work. I have digital gauges and watch pretty close.
had it happen once ot me a few weeks ago in a snow/sleet storm. took it to the dealer, they replaced the filter, sensor, and added the cover. no charge.
I haven't had any issues with mine yet. I do get a decent amount of snow blowing over the blade too. But we have not had very much snow on the front range here so I haven't really tested it yet.
I had my filter clog in December while traveling in a snow storm in Missouri. Dealer there had no clue about the cover so I shelled out money for new filter to get going again at full power. When I got back to Virginia put old filter back in and keeping one with 1500 miles on it for first air filter change. I live in tidewater area and don't think I can get dealer here to give me a cover, it snows maybe twice a year and not much of it. I travel back to midwest a lot so how much does one these covers cost?
