Turbo Timer
Also, would like to purchase fuel pressure gage kit for same vehicle. Any suggestions?
Thanks again for your help.

asked and answered many times - and will probably generate the same 'discussion'

IMHO (and Chevron, etc.. engineers), a turbo timer is no longer needed on recent vehicles with the new oils and recent style turbos...
Probably the only groups that will say you need them are those that sell them and those that are 'old school' ( NOT that old school is all bad
)Any driving for 30 seconds @ anything less than full throttle will cool down your engine oils such that the turbo bearings will not be damaged by 'coking'.
Granted, old style turbo's with the less than perfect oils of years ago did give pause regarding bearing failure from high temps... but no longer.
Heck, even Banks knows it's not necessary:

Think that marketing genius would say that if he could sell timers and make a buck off it ?!?

You suggest that SOME cool down is helpful and provides some level of safety factor. I would have to say that AT A MINIMUM, drive it easy for a minute or so after towing or after WOT before shutting down. After that, you get into the discussion on soot buildup from idling.
ALSO, if you do not believe that some cooldown period is necessary, hopefully you are using synthetic oil. Synthetic oils are MUCH more stable at high temps. Stability is not just resistance to coking, it is also the resistance to boiling off some of the important chemicals in the oil.
Here's a previous discussion so you can do some reading:

By all means - go get a turbo timer - after all, it's your truck

Have had remote starts on all 3 ex's - all had built in turbo timers - never used them

And no - don't use synthetics either - have my opinions for that too...
some cuz my Dad was an engineer at Ethyl corp years ago... but that's another discussion
Thanks for looking for the link. I do not give the Banks web site that much credibility. Also, when I hear a viewpoint that is opposite of what many suggest, I want to see the references and do the research - just the way I am. It is way too easy to read a statement on the Internet without getting a full understanding with all the details.
The other reason I would like to see the link is to see if a max temperature is defined. How hot can the turbo and oil system get to and still be OK. Clearly there is a limit at some temperature. I just want to know what that is. People w/ very larger injectors, tunes, etc. can generate a lot of heat - I have heard of temps over 1500 pre-turbo.
Even 500 degrees can create problems w/ non-synthetic oils. I just like to see numbers.
