all i drilled on was the BB. but there was no drilling it. it was hard. the triangle isnt scratched at all, and after that one time it was super easy to get out. i think the spring had so much pressure on it that it stuck it in there

I'm really curious, is the BB a real BB for a BB gun or is it a simular size ball bearing? Next, will the triangular valve that contains the "BB" will it come out of the FPR housing? If it can I would get to a hardware store that carries springs and get something close just to see how the engine reacts. I have a gut feeling that the valve is damaged or stuck and that may be why it's dieing.

Ford sells a kit for the FPR for about $36.00 and I think it contains a triangular valve, spring and I don't recall if there is an O-ring on that brass cap or not but it was out of stock and would have to have been ordered.

I know that I had a kink in my spring and it gave me 100# until I could straighten it out somewhat then I had 74# without a BB. I bought a used fuel filter and canibalized for parts.

thats your problem, you need to use the real bb from a bb gun, the bearing is too big and gets stuck and causes problems. get teh 36 dollar kit and see how it goes

Here is another thought, if I recall there is about 1 or 2 coils of the spring sticking past the FPR prior to re-installing the cap. Using the best part
(If there is such a thing) of the spring and see how much protrudes past the outside of the FPR. If its a lot, cut it down, your sure not going to hurt anything. That BB may not be seated all the way and it's putting a lot of pressure on the valve and it can't open. If it can't open there is no fuel at idle, as the RPM's go up the fuel pressure goes up and it will run.

Just thoughts,
Rog

when trying to puch a lil spot to drill in the BB we would up knocking it all the way down in the triangle to the bottom. figured what the heck. there isnt any of it sticking out further than where the bolt seats now.

That little Jewel was in the mail the next day. I took it to the Post Office myself and paid a kings ransom for it to get to Canada just becuz you can't be trusted with a BB gun.

When I tried at the Dealer they told me that it came as a kit. Was the valve still in that FPR that you got parts from? If it is, get it and either substitute a spring or use the bent one you have. Ya gotta pix of that spring?
